153rd Diocesan Convention – A Virtual Gathering
Venue: Bray House Miller Hall
314 North Street, Easton, Maryland
Dearly Beloved in Christ,
I am writing to provide early notification to the entire diocese that, due to COVID-19, our 153rd Diocesan Convention, scheduled for March 6, 2021, will be held using a digital format. I want to extend my deepest appreciation to the Standing Committee for their wise counsel as well as to other leaders and dioceses across the Episcopal Church for the insights that they have gained and shared by holding their conventions digitally. The official venue from where the organization of business will be streamed is Bray House/Miller Hall (Article III).
Clergy and lay delegates will receive more information over the ensuing months. In the meanwhile, I will be appointing a Diocesan Convention Committee, as was done in previous years. This committee will investigate and develop a plan for executing a digital convention.
Fortunately, many dioceses are organizing their conventions through a digital format. This should allow the planning committee sufficient resources and guidance as they work through their planning process. This is a significant undertaking in terms of its implications, ramifications and details. Therefore, early planning will be crucial in order to get this amount of work completed in a prayerful, holy and life-giving way, in keeping with diocesan identity – Payer Centered Church + Mission-Shaped Diocese. It will take the cooperation and support of the entire diocesan family to make this endeavor successful and fruitful.
We will continue to provide updates as the work of organizing this unprecedented convention progresses.
