Grace Upon Grace 2019 Convention Weekend
What an amazing weekend! From Friday’s Business Gathering where we unanimously voted in our 40th worship community and first Hispanic/Latino congregation – La Sagrada Familia de Jesus in Kennedyville to Saturday’s informative and inspiring Ignite the Way Conference. From Saturday nights Honorees Gala Banquet where we were treated to a jaw-dropping reenactment of Harriet Tubman’s life to Sunday’s Celebration Eucharist with close to 1,200 people present to hear Presiding Bishop Curry’s message of love and witness. From the Youth at Convention who studied Grace and taught us how to show that grace with passion and art to the Volunteers from around the Church who gathered to make it all possible… What an amazing weekend!

“Harriet Tubman – The Chosen One” This dynamic one-woman show was a highlight of convention! Ms. Gwendolyn Briley Strand took us on one of the many journeys Ms. Tubman took on the Underground Railroad, as she transformed into more than a dozen characters. She was so well received that she has been invited back to perform at General Convention in Baltimore in 2021.
The Celebration Eucharist – Sunday – Noon
Sunday’s Eucharist will mark the close of our year-long 150th anniversary celebration and will include a sermon from the Right Reverend Michael B Curry, Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church. The Celebration Eucharist is a free event that is open to the public. We hope that all of our parishioners around the Diocese will “join us at church” on this historic Sunday.
