The Diocese of Easton’s Discernment Committee has prepared a three-phase program to help discern our future. Phase One is to educate ourselves about what a diocese is and to understand the current state of the Diocese of Easton. For Phase Two the Discernment Committee will go out to the diocese to engage in conversations and to conduct surveys to find out what we in the diocese value and what our priorities are as the church on the Eastern Shore. In Phase Three the people of the diocese will determine how best to organize ourselves as a diocese for the future of the Diocese of Easton.
Parish Discernment Info Day
In Phase One the Discernment Committee is trying to reach as many people as possible and believes that can best be done at the parish level, where people come together regularly. To ensure that lay and clergy have the same baseline of information the Discernment Committee asks that each parish commit to organizing a Parish Discernment Information Day between now and September 29 in which parishioners all view the same instructional video and then have a discussion using the same discussion questions. A toolkit has been prepared for parish leaders to use for their individual education session. The toolkit, the video and additional information including half-sheet inserts for bulletins can be found at the Discernment Education Page: click here
