Appointment of New Dean for the Northern Convocation

September 5, 2024

Re: Appointment of New Dean Northern Convocation

My beloved in Christ,

I want to take this opportunity to inform you, after much reflection, prayer, in conversation with the former dean and in being consistent with mission and ministry context of expanding the vision of the diocese to attract, broaden and call all God’s children into the greater mission and ministry to fulfill their God-given call, I have in conformity with Canon 601.5 (a), invited and she has accepted, appointed the Reverend Claire Nevin-Field, Rector of Emmanuel Parish, Chestertown, Dean of the Northern Convocation effective September 5, 2024. The Reverend Frank St. Amour III has been a faithful and loyal clergy and servant to the Diocese and in the execution of his duties as Dean of the Northern Convocation. Our colleague Frank has retired from his substantive call as Rector, St. Paul’s Parish, Chestertown and Dean of the Northern Convocation effective June 30, 2024.

Claire was ordained to the Order of Deacons on June 6, 2006, and to the Order of Priests on December 12, 2006 in the Diocese of Pennsylvania. She joined the diocese as Rector, Emmanuel Parish, on December 12, 2022. Prior to pursuing her vocation to the ordained ministry, Claire was trained as a nurse and was a Staff Nurse-Midwife in Pennsylvania. Read Dean Claire’s resume here.

Claire and her congregation were very instrumental in organizing and executing with the assistance of the former Dean, Fr. Frank St. Amour III, clergy and lay of the Northern Convocation, the extremely fruitful 156th Annual Diocesan Convention held at Washington College.

It is my conviction that Claire is called, equipped and experienced to lead the Northern Convocation as Dean in the next phase of its ministry and missional life.

I invite your prayers and support for our sister Claire, the Northern Convocation and Diocese of Easton in our diocesan commitment, conviction and determination as we move forward in hope and God’s grace to forge a new and exciting future for the Diocese of Easton.

Every blessing!
