Requirements for Licensed Lay Leaders

  • Faithfulness: Demonstrates a vibrant and compelling relationship with God; demonstrates sustainable and current spiritual practices, responds to the power of the Holy Spirit in daily life.
  • Emotional Maturity: Demonstrates the ability to understand and manage emotions; possesses a realistic sense of self; knows own heart and spirit; demonstrates maturity in relationships with others. Exhibits humility and willingness to learn.
  • Emotional Resilience: Demonstrates resilience in difficult situations and practices excellent self-care in managing stress.

Licensed Eucharistic Minister (EM) Training

Middle Convocation: October 5, 2024, 9:00 am – noon, Christ Church, Easton OR

Southern Convocation: October 26, 2024, 9:00 am – noon, St. Paul’s Episcopal Center, Hebron

 Licensed Worship Leader Training I Via Zoom

Online Time: October 30, November 6 & 13: 7:00pm – 8:30pm (Must participate in all sessions)

This session is intended for new Worship Leaders. Prior Worship Leaders are welcome to join Advanced Worship Leader Training II in Spring, 2025 via Zoom.

Read book before training: Opening the Prayer Book, by Bishop Henry Lee (1999) and other materials will be provided. Descriptions of Ministries

Eucharistic Ministers

A Eucharistic Minister is a layperson authorized to administer the Consecrated Elements at a Celebration of Holy Eucharist. A Eucharistic Minister shall act under the direction of a Deacon, if any, or otherwise, the Member of the Clergy or other leader exercising oversight of the congregation or other community of faith.

Eucharistic Visitors

A Eucharistic Visitor is a lay person authorized to take the Consecrated Elements in a timely manner following a Celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at the Celebration. A Eucharistic Visitor should normally act under the direction of a Deacon, if any, or otherwise, the Member of the Clergy or other leader exercising oversight of the congregation or other community of faith.

Worship Leader:

The licensed worship leader is authorized to lead public worship in the absence of, and/or at the direction of a priest, subject to the Book of Common Prayer. A licensed worship leader is a confirmed adult communicant in good standing called to lead worship in the congregation.
