Once again we are bearing witness to the devastating effects of a hurricane – this time as it crosses over South Carolina and North Carolina. Please know that we are in regular communication with those Diocese effected, via networks set up through Episcopal Relief and Development, and are awaiting more information about relief efforts. Attached here is the most recent letter from those Bishops.
We will update you soon with our plan of action to assist our neighbors to the south. We ask for your continued prayers for the people in the path of Hurricane Florence and for the first responders serving those communities.
Almighty God, who has taught in your holy word that you do not willingly afflict or grieve your children: Look with pity upon those in our communities who have experienced the devastating effects of storms and flooding. May you comfort those we have lost loved ones, homes and belongings, grant healing to those who are injured and give strength to first responders, community leaders and all others involved with restoring order and creating safe spaces for the displaced. Grant to all affected the hope and new life that Jesus brings to us. We pray in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen!
