After consulting with Mary Parmer, the decision has been made to make this year’s Fall Mission Summit: Invite Welcome Connect, a one-day event on Saturday October 8th at Holy Trinity Church in Oxford. We had initially hoped to have two separate events allowing for people to make a choice that fit best into their calendar and geographic needs. However, the registration count necessitated a shift in our planning – so as to best leverage the networking aspect of the curriculum.
Therefore, in order to facilitate deeper and wider conversations across as many possible congregations, we have decided to consolidate the Invite Welcome Connect event to Saturday at Holy Trinity Church in Oxford.
We want to thank the leadership and members of St. Alban’s for their willingness to share their outstanding hospitality with the wider diocese. We are looking forward to being able to work with them again in the future for a different event when we can highlight their amazing gifts.
The decision to change the format was not made lightly, and it was only done after serious discernment about the needs of the diocese and the format of the program. Our goal is to strengthen relationships among lay leaders in all of our congregations. We want our lay leaders to know each other, to be friends with each other and to ‘borrow’ good ideas from each other. This goal can be better achieved by as many people as possible being together in one room at the same time.
Phone calls have already been made to the individuals who have registered for the Friday session.
We are hoping to increase our registration and attendance numbers so that this event will reach as many people as possible. If you are considering this event and haven’t registered yet, please don’t delay. In order to assure that we can provide enough food and have enough supplies for everyone, we need to have a registration deadline of October 1st.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on October 8th!
